Kimberly Corban is a victim advocate and sexual assault survivor turned public speaker.
In May of 2006, Kimberly’s life was irrevocably changed when a stranger broke into her college-area apartment, held her there for two hours, and raped her. She immediately reported the crime to authorities and served as the key witness in her attacker’s trial, successfully garnering a sexual assault conviction.
Following the jury’s verdict, Kimberly made the brave decision to release her name to the media with the goal of saving even just one victim, providing them the courage to come forward as well. She attended the University of Northern Colorado for both her Undergraduate and Master's Studies in Psychology and Criminal Justice. Kimberly worked for many years as a victim’s advocate with the local police department and later with the 19th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Over the past fifteen years, she has presented to countless advocate groups, universities, justice professionals, and various government agencies internationally on sexual assaults, using her case as an illustration for how the criminal justice system should work. Her 2018 TED Talk received high praise sparking both timely and timeless conversations about survivors of abuse.
Today, Kimberly is a frequent media presence speaking on crime victim advocacy, current legislation, and best practices for interactions with survivors. A mother to four young children, Kimberly and her husband Michael reside in Northern Colorado.
